Midori Uchida

I collect stones when I go to the beach.
I'm attracted to things that feel hefty and solid in my hands.
What I value most is texture and the sense of existence.

I've always had a vague idea of what I'm looking at.
The inspiration is similar to the feeling I get when I’m looking at the sunset.
It is similar to the feeling I get when I see a tree swaying in the wind or a bird flying.

Her attitude when making pottery or an object was the same.
Ms. Uchida’s careful manner can be seen not only in her finished pottery, but through her hands as she worked.
We sensed a sacredness in the air when Ms. Uchida was working with clay.
